General Company
Q. Your on line catalogue and web prices appear to be RRP prices. I am a trade installer how do I access trade prices?
A. You need to register with us for a trade login. However, you must be a bona-fide trade installer or reseller to benefit from trade prices. We do NOT offer trade prices to the general public or end users.

Q. I want to buy on line to save on carriage do I always have to use a credit card?
A. No. You can open a credit account.

Q. I had credit account some time ago but it has been changed to Cash With Order (pro-forma or credit card) basis. Why is this?
A. Accounts that are not used for two years will automatically revert to a CWO basis. We also reserve the right to withdraw credit facilities due to either poor payment record or an adverse credit report from our credit reference agency.

Q. What are your credit terms?
A. Payment should be received by us on or before 25th of the month following month of invoice for approved credit accounts.

Q. What do I need to do to return a faulty or suspected faulty product?
A. If the product is damaged or obviously faulty contact us for a return note number. We will fax or email a return note to you and this must accompany the product to enable us to track it. If the product is suspected of being faulty then ask to speak to our technical dept. They may ask you to run through some tests to determine what the fault is.
If you require an immediate service replacement then we will need a new order number from you in the form of a fax or email clearly identifying your company and the name and position of the person requesting the replacement. We do not send out goods without order cover.

General Technical
Q. Where do I find more product information such as user and installation instruction?
A. Follow the hyperlink 'More information..' usually located just above the price of the relevant product.

Q. I have an obsolete product where do I find installation instructions?
A. Select Support on the menu bar down the left hand side of each page.

Q. Your product doesn’t do quite do what I need. Can it be modified?
A. Contact our technical dept. We can either make a custom designed piece of equipment or maybe offer a software work around.

Exitguard
Q. Can EXITGUARDS be keyed alike?
A. Yes please ask. Unless otherwise requested we will endeavour to send out orders for two or more with the same key.

Q. Can I change the sound level and tone of the EXITGUARD sounder?
A. Yes. There are two engineer selectable tones for the EX100 series and six keypad selectable tones for the EX200 series. A chime facility is also included in both versions.

Q. How long do the batteries last in an EXITGUARD?
A. This is difficult to say. It depends on usage. If the sounder is never sounded then probably 2 – 3 years. If the sounder is sounded for 30 seconds once every week the limit will probably be 12 – 18 months. If the sounder is sounded daily we would recommend installing either a 12 volt dc powered version or a mains powered version.

Q. Can an EXITGUARD protect more than one door, eg double doors?
A. Yes. It is possible to use two or more door contacts. EXITGUARDS are usually only supplied with one door contact but we do sell additional door contacts.

Q. What are the maximum delays on EXITGUARDs?
A. EX104 can re-arm automatically after a preset delay once the door has been closed. This delay is adjustable up to 90 seconds, beyond 90 seconds the sounder sounds continually. There is also an optional link selectable Door Open Too Long (DOTL) delay of 15 seconds.
A. EX204 auto re-arm timer can be adjusted via the keypad between 0 and 88 seconds. The Door Open Too Long DOTL delay is adjustable between 0 and 88m58secs.
Tip: If this delay is to allow staff to use the door it is more secure to the temporary pass code feature of the EX200 series.

Q. I need a different delay for manual and auto reset on my EX200 EXITGUARD is this possible?
A. Yes. This can be set up via the keypad.

Q. How can I prevent my staff changing the settings via the keypad in order to circumvent security?
A. From February 2009 all EX200 EXITGUARDS have a manager code option.

Q. I am trying to reset the keypad Exitguard to the factory defaults but it doesn’t work?
A. Ensure that the tamper loop is open. The copper pads for system reset have a coating on them that makes it difficult to short them with a screwdriver. Use a small link of wire or a paper clip pushed into the holes to create a temporary short.

Q. I need an Exitguard without any on / off control. Anyone can use the door, but if they leave it open it should annoy them into closing the door.
A. We have a new product called DORWATCHER.

Fire Alarms
Q. How many GX32 Fire Alarm call points can I connect to one control?
A. Thirty Two

Q. How many GX20 Fire Alarm units can be linked together?
A. Four

Q. I have 4 x GX20e. I tested them as stand alone and they all alarmed, but when I link them together they don't signal to each other. Have I connected them wrongly?
A. The connections can be reversed so you probably have not wired them wrongly. When testing them individually did you silence them with the key, or did you silence them by replacing the glass? If you just replaced the glass, each unit will give a bleep every 30 seconds and not accept inputs from other units until it has been silenced and reinstated. This forces the responsible person to attend after an alarm condition.

Interlocks
Q. How can I reduce the dwell time from 1 minute on the IG432?
A. The dwell time default is 5 seconds, there is also a Door Open Too Long (DOTL) delay set to a default of 1 minute. The lock contacts and door contacts affect the INTERGUARD in different ways. Either fit door contacts or fit the link to use Mode 3 operation (New feature 2009, ideal for lock contacts).

Multiguard
Q. How many MULTIGUARDs can be interconnected?
A. There is really no limit to the number of master units that can be used in an array to make up a multizone system. In practice it is probably more economical to have us build up a special into one unit. For anything above 24 zones.

Q. How many MULTIGUARD repeaters can be connected to a MULTIGUARD master?
A. Four is the maximum but if cable distances are long it would be wise to reduce this

Panic Strip
Q. I have taken delivery of some REDIPRESS or DADO panic strip and it is too long/short. How do I shorten/lengthen it?
A. You can shorten the channel on site with a hack saw but the switch element is factory sealed and must be returned to us. There is a charge for shortening.
If it is too short you will need to re-order to the correct length.
We would always advise that you double check the dimensions you need and err on the shorter side. Do you really need the strip to extend right into the corner of a room? Don’t assume that similar rooms will be exactly the same size measure each one. On new builds measure the room after plastering etc..

Q. Do I have to use one of your REDIMON units with REDIPRESS/DADO switch strips?
A. No. We can supply switch strip as an open circuit switch or with an end of line resistor to suit your control. The REDIMON monitors two 6k8 end of line resistors to provide both tamper and alarm monitoring.

Q. Can REDIPRESS/DADO switch strips be used directly with your AIDALARM units?
A. Yes. Just order Type 1 termination (open circuit) to the length you need.

Zoneguard
Q. I have been told that the ZONEGUARD is a new EXITGUARD with both a keyswitch and keypad operations. Why does it not give a local alarm when the door is opened?
A. The ZONEGUARD is not a new EXITGUARD. The ZONEGUARD is a zone omit unit intended to securely omit or re-instate zones from an intruder system. If a door has been deliberately omitted why would you need an alarm to tell you that you have used it? If you just need a local alarm use an EXITGUARD. However, the ZONEGUARD now has a programmable function that sounds the local alarm if a contact is opened while omitted from the main intruder alarm system.
