Environmental Policy

At Hoyles we take our environmental obligations very seriously and have invested significantly over the years to minimise any envionmental impact of the products we sell.

ROHS Policy

This Directive states that from 1st July 2006 most new electrical and electronic equipment put on the market must not contain lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls (PBBs) or polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) above certain levels.
Monitoring and control equipment, known as Category 9, which includes HED Ltd. products, is currently exempt from the Directive. Nevertheless, in line with the company's commitment to environmental protection measures, we have taken the necessary steps to eradicate all non-compliant components from our production processes.

WEEE Policy

This Directive aims to reduce the amount of waste electrical and electronic equipment by enforcing the reuse and recycling of equipment, components and materials, in order to conserve landfill space and prevent pollutants being dispersed.
It came into effect on 13 August 2005 and requires producers to provide for the collection and treatment of their products once they become waste, and to maximise the quantity of their products that are recovered and recycled.
For HED Ltd products (category 9) the targets specified are:
(a) for recovery: 70% by weight per appliance
(b) for component reuse and recycling: 50% by weight per appliance.

To comply with this directive we label all relevant products that we produce with the crossed out wheelie bin symbol. We have also joined the WEEE Care PLC compliance scheme. WEEE Care PLC have registered us with the Environment Agency as a Producer and will arrange to have any of our equipment collected and recycled as necessary. WEEE Care PLC can be contacted on 0844 800 2004, if arranging a collection please quote our account number with them which is 137896. Our Environment Agency Producer Registration number is WEE/EC0248QZ.

We constantly review the design of our products to optimise their potential for recycling.

As a producer, EoL information will ultimately be posted on this website including handling of any permitted hazardous chemicals.
