The field of safety and security is an extremely broad one. There are many roles within the industry that relate to various different sectors in the field. Some of these include:

  • Security guard - a person employed to protect a building against intruders or damage. Employed in positions in places such as banks, shopping centers, schools, and airports, where they are charged with the responsibility of protecting the businesses and the public in general against theft, destruction, or any other type of harmful activities.
  • CCTV Administrator - To provide overall operations and monitoring of CCTV
  • Corporate Safety Director - responsible for ensuring the safety of the workplace. The director accomplishes that by coordinating, administering and implementing comprehensive training programs in occupational, industrial and environmental safety.
  • Enforcement Agent - someone who is instructed by a creditor to enforce a money debt or a fine or by a landlord to carry out an eviction. By a creditor to repossess goods under hire purchase or a conditional sale agreement to enforce an injunction.
  • Police Officer - maintain law and order, protect members of the public and their property, prevent crime, reduce the fear of crime and improve the quality of life for all citizens.
  • Fire Fighter – take action against fires by extinguishing the flames and assisting people in need with regards to fire-related incidents.
  • Health and Safety Officer - responsible for ensuring that employers and workers comply with safety legislation and that safety policies and practices are adopted and adhered to. Are based in a wide range of organisations, from multinationals to small consultancies, and help to plan, implement, monitor and review protective and preventative safety measures.
  • Police Community Support Officers - uniformed staff whose role is to support the work of police officers within the community. Their role is to assist the police in certain areas, acting as the eyes and ears on the streets. PCSO's particularly work to reassure the public and to tackle the social menace of anti-social behaviour.
  • Security Systems Installer - fit and service electronic systems that detect intruders and control access to buildings or sites. They also fit alarms in houses.
